Match Report - T20 vs Huddinge CC
2023-05-13 13:03

Stockholm CC Herr 1 XI lost their 2nd T20 match of the season by 61 runs.

Stockholm CC suffered a disappointing defeat against Huddinge Cricket in the 2023 T20 Allsvenskan match played at Granby Bollplan in Stockholm. The team won the toss and chose to field first, hoping to restrict their opponents to a low score.

However, the Huddinge Cricket batsmen had other plans, as they started off aggressively with Tariq Zuwak taking charge. Stockholm CC bowlers struggled to contain him, as he hit a quickfire 5 before being dismissed by Avinash Upadhyaya.

Omran Zazai then took over, and he played a superb innings of 39 runs off just 22 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Nasir Iqbal, Saeed Ahmed, and Imal Zuwak all chipped in with useful contributions, but it was Farhad Momand who provided the late surge with his unbeaten knock of 26 off 20 balls.

Stockholm CC bowlers could not find a way to stop the flow of runs, and the team conceded a total of 178 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Avinash Upadhyaya and Pankaj Kaul were the pick of the bowlers, picking up two wickets each.

In response, Stockholm CC got off to a disastrous start, losing their first wicket in the very first over. ANKIT T, the opening batsman, was the only one to show some resistance, scoring 39 off 22 balls, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. However, he did not receive much support from the other end, as the rest of the batsmen failed to get going.

Archan V and Avinash Upadhyaya were the only other batsmen to reach double figures, but they could not stay long enough to make a difference. In the end, Stockholm CC managed to score only 117 runs in their 20 overs, losing the match by 61 runs.

The Huddinge Cricket bowlers put in a great effort, with ANKIT T being the only batsman to trouble them. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs. He was well supported by Akmal Zuwak, who picked up 2 wickets for just 9 runs in his 2 overs.

In the end, it was a comprehensive victory for Huddinge Cricket, who outplayed Stockholm CC in all departments of the game. Farhad Momand was named the Man of the Match for his crucial knock of 26 not out and his tidy bowling figures of 0/15 in 3 overs.
