Stockholm CC emerged victorious against Östertälje CC in a thrilling encounter at Skarpnäck Cricketplan in the 2023 ECS-Qualification tournament.

 

Östertälje CC won the toss and chose to field first. Stockholm CC struggled to get going in the early stages, with Abhishek Mathur being the first to depart for just six runs. Ashwin David Albert followed soon after, caught by Sohail Zahid off the bowling of Khalil Jalali for just three runs.

 

Vinod Chalindra was the next to go, bowled by Zabi Ullah Zahid for a single run. However, Archan Vaidya played a crucial innings of 28 runs off 33 balls to steady the ship. He was well supported by Manoj Singh Tomar, who scored nine runs before being bowled by Khalid Zahid.

 

Chenna Nali made a brief cameo, scoring nine runs before being caught by Mohammad Chakari off the bowling of Khalid Zahid. Daniel Kumpati and Apoorva Palan scored two and eight runs respectively, before Rakesh Kumar remained unbeaten on one run at the end of the innings.

 

Stockholm CC finished their innings on 77 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 60 balls. Khalil Jalali, Zabi Ullah Zahid, and Mohammad Chakari were the pick of the bowlers for Östertälje CC, taking one wicket each.

 

In response, Östertälje CC got off to a decent start, with opener Sohail Zahid scoring 17 runs off 17 balls. However, wickets started falling at regular intervals, and they found themselves struggling at 65 runs for the loss of five wickets.

 

Archan Vaidya was the pick of the bowlers for Stockholm CC, taking two wickets for just 28 runs in his four overs. Khalid Zahid and Mohammad Chakari also took two wickets each, while Said Bakhtiar took one wicket.

 

Östertälje CC finished their innings on 65 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 60 balls, falling short of the target by 12 runs. Sohail Zahid was awarded the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

 

Overall, it was a closely fought contest between two evenly matched teams, with Stockholm CC eventually coming out on top.
